Poker Bites!

Hej Der Folks!

I started this blog, as I start a lot of projects, with one idea and then it faded into the back of mind and got lost. But recently it came to my attention that the process of playing a lot of tournament and small stakes online poker, playing with friends and living with someone who has played twice as long as me, has led me to ponder and analyse my game more.

I’ve found by discussing it with my partner that between us we share a lot of insight into how to keep yourself and your bankroll afloat, when you are struggling to poke your head out the barrel of fish that is online poker.  So at random points I’ll start collecting poker tips that have shown to be affective and made sense during our struggle to the top. (Sorry I can’t promise how often, but it will be as often as thoughts occur to me and the means to type them persist)

I’m not claiming to be some huge poker professional or anything, but I’m willing to put in my 10,000 hours, lose my first 40 games and start really playing. I know I have the bug.

Anyway, to leave it off here is tip #1: Balance the Books

Don’t try to make money straight away. If you can play games and come out even, then you will have won enough to compensate for the blinds of all the rounds you’ve played. You will be up but it just won’t look like it. Learn to keep your buy-in floating for as long as you can before you try to squeeze more from it. It just like a free-roll tourney, how long can you make those chips last.
